Love.... Ellen De Meutter

On my recent visit to Los Angeles we visited several art galleries.  The Ellen De Meutter exhibit at Roberts and Tilton was fantastic and inspired me to blog about her paintings.

Shutters on the beach

I am one of 4 siblings, of which 3 are girls.  Me and my 2 sisters are taking a break from our real jobs and meeting in Santa Monica, CA for a couple nights of well deserved "catch up" time and bonding.

The easy part about planning this trip was picking where to stay.  Without a question if you want to stay on the beach, love first class service and a great location you need to stay at Shutters.  I've been looking for an excuse to get back here and now it's happening.  I will be taking a few day off for R & R and back soon.

Wine Country farmhouse

Designer Jean Larette puts her lovely touch on this renovated 1970's ranch home in St. Helena, California.  She trades florals for solids and flashiness for subtlety.  The views are gorgeous and walls of windows on both sides of the house fold back for indoor-outdoor living.  Go here for more.

Etsy Friday Favorite

I just love marleyandlockyer's Etsy shop.  She is from Australia and has a love for whites, neutrals and France.  That is probably the reason I love all her things.  These tags have been made with white clay rolled on linen and them stamped with various pictures or words.  They could be used for many things such as gift tags, wrapped around a bunch of flowers or wine bottle.  Check out her cute blog as well.

Decorating with light

This California family had specific ideas when they met architect Greg Johnson to design their brand new home.  They wanted an optimal floor plan and light streaming through every room.

I love the flooring through out the home and how the back walls of the kitchen cabinets are windows allowing light to pour in not only from the kitchen but the outside.  To see more lovely pictures of this home, go to Traditional Home.

Have a Nice (birthday) Weekend

As you can see from the above picture, I've never liked birthdays (hahaha).  However, today is my birthday and I plan on spending time with family and friends.  Hoping for a "picture perfect" day and many more!!

Banquette seating ideas

Banquette-built in seating doesn't take up much space, adds comfort and can even incorporate storage.  All of the above photos caught my eye and are just lovely.  What is your favorite?

Mandevilla

Lots of color in our flower pots is a favorite and this year I am loving my mandevilla.  I'm always drawn to white flowers, but this vine just happens to have white and pink.  We didn't know this when it was planted, but I do love it.  Mandevillas love the sun and warm weather, so we are in luck.  Easy to care for.

Aldridge villa

This adorable villa caught my eye and has so many characteristics in a home that appeal to me.  Creamy whites, pastels, and nice art.  Love to move right in!
