Fort Worth Charmer

After spending the day in my home town of Fort Worth yesterday I decided to check out some of the local real estate.  This one caught my eye right off the bat!

This great home is in the beautiful Rivercrest area of Fort Worth.  A two story on great street with mature trees! 3 bed, 3 baths up. All baths have been remodeled, kitchen completely updated with granite tops. Breakfast room with wall of windows. Den plus library. Steven Gambrel

Featured in Elle Decor and photographed by Simon Upton, the designer,  Steven Gambrel, describes the casually elegant decor as an "ode to an English country house with a fresh take".  I'm loving the bright, open rooms and choices of colors throughout.  The kitchen is to die for!  Many more lovely photos to see and article to read right here.

Black outs

Because of the unusually low temperatures and overwhelming amount of energy being used, our part of Texas is enforcing periodic blackouts.  This inspired me to blog about some pretty black rooms!

I'm typically drawn to the creamy, natural look, but sure do love all of these rooms done in black.  I hope you are all staying inside where it is warm.  (no school today either)

Rustic Retreat in North Carolina

 

Cashiers, North Carolina was once a rain forest and is set in a valley in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains.  This home is cozy and airy and very inviting - rustic yet refined.  The natural colors and large porch are my favorite parts of this home.

Back to school shopping

My son is returning to college this week and moving into the fraternity house!  I'm sure it will be a great environment to study and relax!  (not)  With that in mind we wanted to freshen up his room with some new basics and loved finding some good deals.

Since his roommate is hauling up a couch, chair and coffee table we are providing the television, refrigerator and other electronics.  Hoping for good grades and wonderful memories!

A pop of turquoise

My friend Jaye just bought a beach house and is going to start doing a few updates soon.  We love the feel of all white with touches of turquoise.  This motivated me for todays blog.

We will continue to look for ways to brighten up the old place and bring in new life.  Hope to have some before and after pictures in the coming months.

Aldridge villa

This adorable villa caught my eye and has so many characteristics in a home that appeal to me.  Creamy whites, pastels, and nice art.  Love to move right in!
